Year 12 graduation is one of the few times a whole family gets dressed up and stands in the same place at the same time. Parents, grandparents, siblings, the student themselves — it's worth more than a phone photo in the driveway on the way out.

These sessions are relaxed and outdoors, run in the shaded forest paths and boardwalks at the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens in Benowa. The focus is on real connections rather than lined-up poses: portraits with grandparents, unposed moments between siblings, and the group shot everyone will actually print.

What a graduation session covers

Individual portraits of the graduate, portraits with parents, extended family and grandparents, groups with friends, and candids throughout. Around an hour is usually enough, and it works best before the formal rather than after — everyone's fresher and there's no rush to be somewhere.

When to book

Graduation and formal season runs September through November on the Gold Coast, and those weekends fill first. If your date is set, get it locked in early.
